At Bowdre Educational Consulting, we believe every child deserves an environment where they feel seen, supported, and set up to thrive. Founded by Bowdre Fortson Clayton, the firm has grown into the largest independent educational consulting practice in Upstate South Carolina, now serving families across the nation and around the world.

Bowdre Fortson Clayton brings more than a decade of experience inside education to every family she works with — including admissions roles at respected institutions and years working with students across the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe before founding Bowdre Consulting. She doesn't just know the process. She knows how decisions are actually made on the other side of the desk.

Our work begins with school and college placement—helping families identify the right academic fit, whether that’s a local independent school, a U.S. boarding school, or a top international program. We guide students through a highly personalized process that considers their goals, values, strengths, and learning styles, ensuring that each placement decision sets them up for long-term success.

But placement is only part of our story. Over the years, Bowdre Educational Consulting has expanded into a hub of resources and community for families. We provide college counseling, student coaching, leadership development, and family resources designed to help young people build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.

To further our mission, we also host signature events, speaking series, and workshops across the country—bringing parents, students, and educators together for conversations that matter most. These gatherings equip families with practical tools while creating spaces of connection and encouragement.

That same mission inspired the launch of our podcast, The Prep Table. Hosted by Bowdre, The Prep Table is a conversation space for parents who want to feel confident and informed as they support their child’s educational journey. Covering everything from early childhood development to college admissions, each episode features trusted voices in parenting, education, and mental wellness. From fostering belonging and handling toddler emotions to preparing for college and guiding teens through challenges, the podcast provides parents with clarity, encouragement, and a reminder that they are not alone.
